Years ago His Emminence, Cardinal George of Chicago said to his fellow Bishops -paraphrasing- "Oh, I get it. Some of us are to the left of Rome. Some of us to the right. And some down the middle. Have I got that right?" (Am not able to find the citation.)

May we work to help the Holy Father, the Bishops and priests in communion with him, especially through prayer, but also via reading, talking, and writing. Let's follow the Holy Father right down the middle with Rome.

The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius offer the 2 forms of Mass...Extraordinary, in Latin, and Ordinary in Latin or in English. They did this before the Summorum Pontificum 070707 document of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. One of the Frs. taught me that it is, I think his word was, forbidden to commingle, or mix, the 2 forms. In other words they are told to, as Fr. Z says, "Say the Black, Do the Red." They do not add nor subtract anything from the words in the book.

Prayer

Prayer...no matter how small...such as "My Jesus Mercy"...goes a long way in helping. All baptized Christians, who are baptized "In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" can help just by making the Sign of the Cross.

To make the Sign of the Cross, begin wth your right hand, using your index, middle and third fingers. Point to the top of your forehead for "In the Name of the Father". Then point to your breastbone for "and of the Son". Then point to your left shoulder blade for "and of the Holy", and finally point to your right shoulder blade for "Spirit". Then say "Amen" with your hands joined in the prayer position.

That prayer, or beginning to prayers, if done by ALL validly baptized Christians, would go along way in helping the current situations in the world and in the Church.

It is so easy. Try it!

Our God, of Grace & Mercy, (The Last Vision of Sr. Lucia - June 13, 1929 - Soul Magazine, Spring 2009, p. 6 - wafusa.org) perpetually showers graces (1 Peter 3:7 -Douay-Rheims Version) and mercies on us. Our FREE WILL, (Ps. 50:12, 1 Cor. 9:1 - ibid.) which He does not interfere with, is our greatest grace, our greatest gift, our greatest blesssing. And His mercies are endless and endure forever. (Jeremias 33:11 - ibid.) Thanks be to God, for with FREE WILL, how we need mercy. He gives these gifts in time. His time.

"2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to destroy, and a time to build.
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather. A time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.
6 A time to get, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew. A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.

Make good time and time good! How much of it we waste. If we find ourselves wasting time, we can pray in that time giving thanks for His graces - gifts - blessings - while asking for mercy. You choose.

The Benefits of Prayer

Prayer can lead to much peace & joy. Anyone can do it.

Not everyone will say the name of JESUS, which is a prayer. Nor these prayers - 1. MY JESUS MERCY, 2. JESUS, SON OF THE LIVING GOD, HAVE MERCY ON ME A SINNER.

BUT!!! EVERYONE can say/pray OUR FATHER, who art in heaven,...etc.

Some others say/pray a ROSARY. And others offer THE HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS & receive the Sacraments.

Anyone interested is invited to pray during the day or night. Often is best. Prayer stores up lots of Holy Treasure. Of course, when we do something we shouldn't we lose some or all of our Holy Treasure - GRACE, especially the Sanctifying kind. Prayer & the Sacraments can restore it!

Little Treasure Chest

Sometimes being asked to pray for others can seem overwhelming...because one already has a long list of people to pray for. One woman I know puts all of the names on her prayer list in a basket and places the basket in front of the TV and the EWTN Rosary. When the Rosary is being prayed, she asks God to remember all who are on her prayer list in the basket, joining the TV Rosary to her list.

For people who don't have EWTN TV programming, a Little Treasure Chest petition can help.

Grace..."it's all gift". According to the Fathers and Doctors of the Church. That means...the good... and EVEN the bad!
So...grace is increased by way of the Sacraments, prayer, good works and EVEN the bad...the sorrowful, painful stuff! Holy Treasure???!!!

"Faith without works is dead"...from the book of James. Good works increase grace...and St. Therese of Lisieux tells us that if we pick up a pin to say thank you to God. That small of a work can do it!!! Thanks be to God.

I read recently that Fr. Gruner says that saying the Rosary is a sure way to not fall into error...into heresy. And that if you are in error that praying the Rosary is a sure way to get out of it. He also says that praying the Rosary will help to keep your thoughts clear. He catches my attention with that one. With all of the distractions of the world at our finger tips that is not an easy task.

In our ever so humble minds it is easy to become bogged down...I did not say blogged down...
I am learning to sort and separate the secular from the Sacred in my mind so that what is of the world is clear to me and what is of the Sacred is likewise clear. Or at least clearer.

Then I am focusing on the Sacred and following the parts of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) - the Creed, the Sacraments, the 10 Commandments and Prayer as categories for my life and my files...really tubs or crates...of paper stuff. That does help. Kind of like the Fly Lady of paper organization. :)www.teachmestuff.com is a front door page for other sites, but that has the purpose of sorting and separating educational products and materials as a means of helping parents to sort and separate things in the school or academic world... Education is really very simple, and it's getting even more simple with the advancement of technology.www.catechismclass.com is very good at a daily schedule for this kind of sorting and separating in Catholic Education.

Is your grace account open or closed???

Holy Treasure...a friend from St. Anthony's says that grace builds on nature. Those words always interest me. Because I did not ask her exactly what that means...I have always assumed that it means that it builds on me...on my soul. But I've also heard that grace builds on grace. Again, I assume that that means that the grace I have...from the Sacraments, (mostly), prayer and good works keep adding up...like a bank account is supposed to. That's my limited understanding about grace. Other than the Blessed Virgin Mary was full of grace. Again, it sounds to me that she did not or could not use any more. Wow! Just imagine.

On the other hand, grace is like a bank account in the other way also. You can withdraw grace. How? Sin. Ugh. Not an easy thing to think about. As a matter of fact sin can easily close the account if it is mortal or grave sin. Then we lose the very life of God in us.

The Benedictine Monks have the very best motto (and answer) in my book...pray and work...as a focus. It seems that those are the ingredients that can help us keep our account open. Not easy as pie though!

Thinking of becoming a blogger? Chris from St. Mary's (regina-caeli.blogspot.com) may have started a trend. I took Joan from St. Martha's. It might be fun to see NEW bloggers also choosing to use a Saints name in their blog. Kinda like a trend toward having the Saints intercede for us who are new to blogging!!!??? ...In honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of Grace...I would like to focus on grace and how it helps us to strengthen Catholic Family Life - in the faith and in daily living. I'm not sure where to start other than to ask "How do we best do this - focus on grace- for our souls and the souls of our family members and, therefore, for the Church."
